The safety road mirror prevents accidents at blind intersections, car park exits, and sharp bends. Stand-Direct offers a range compliant with NF EN 13422: unbreakable convex mirrors, reinforced fixings for poles or walls.

At blind intersections and hidden exits, a convex road mirror compliant with standard NF EN 13422 widens the field of vision. Unbreakable and weather-resistant, it attaches to a post or wall to reveal each approaching vehicle.
At parking exits, residential accesses and tight blind turns, a wide-angle road mirror restores vision where it is obscured. The heated and anti-fog versions stay sharp outdoors, whatever the weather.
The diameter is chosen according to the observation distance: allow approximately 1 m of distance for 10 cm of diameter. A Ø600 mm road mirror is suitable up to 15 m (parking exit, interior courtyard), Ø800 mm up to 25 m, and Ø900 mm beyond 30 m for quick intersections. All our convex models comply with the NF EN 13422 standard, which defines the viewing angle and the curvature class. For a dangerous two-way intersection, choose a 360° wide angle or two sides, in order to cover both traffic flows simultaneously.
Three materials meet distinct needs: acrylic offers the best optical clarity for sheltered private roads, polycarbonate resists impacts and vandalism on public roads, and stainless steel guarantees maximum resistance in corrosive or coastal environments. All remain compliant with NF EN 13422. Customization concerns the diameter (Ø400 to Ø900), the heated or anti-fog version, and the addition of a sun visor (cap) against glare and rain. The fixing adapts to the support: collar for Ø60-90 mm pole or wall plate.
The price of a road mirror depends mainly on the diameter, material and options. An acrylic Ø600 mm model remains the economical entry-level, while an anti-shock polycarbonate Ø800 mm is in the mid-range. The stainless steel, heated or anti-fog versions and the large Ø900 diameters represent the top of the range. When purchasing, factor in durability: a mirror compliant with NF EN 13422 with anti-UV treatment retains its clarity for 5 to 10 years, which reduces the real cost over time compared to a non-standardized product which quickly yellows and deforms.
Our road mirrors compliant with NF EN 13422 are delivered within approximately 2 weeks, with common diameters Ø600-Ø800 generally being in stock. Installation is quick: for a mast, the clamp attaches to a Ø60 to 90 mm post at a height of 2.2-2.5 m, oriented towards the blind area; for wall installation, the plate is screwed onto solid masonry. The articulated ball joint allows fine adjustment of the angle. Allow 20 to 30 minutes per mirror, without specific equipment, which makes equipping an intersection or parking lot exit immediately.
Our road mirrors are guaranteed and designed for permanent outdoor use: the reflective surface is treated anti-UV to prevent yellowing and preserve sharpness for several years. NF EN 13422 compliance attests to the resistance to bad weather, the stability of the convex image and the strength of the fixings. In cold or humid areas, the heated or anti-fog version prevents frost and condensation which would render the mirror useless at critical times. Polycarbonate and stainless steel further extend the lifespan against vandalism and corrosion.

A road mirror is justified as soon as a traffic point combines a blind spot and a flow of vehicles or pedestrians: exit from an underground car park, crossing of aisles in a warehouse, sharp turn in a logistics yard, opening onto a poorly cleared private road. Investing in this passive safety device costs infinitely less than a collision between two vehicles or a collision with a pedestrian, and its installation remains quick compared to road redevelopment. Logistics site managers, communities, co-ownerships and car park operators use it primarily in areas where speed and direct visibility cannot be reconciled otherwise. The intersection mirror then completes existing traffic signage without requiring heavy work or prolonged traffic interruptions.
The effectiveness of a road mirror depends almost entirely on its location. It should be oriented to cover the entire risk area from the actual position of the driver or forklift operator, usually with a slight downward tilt angle to encompass the nearby roadway as much as the escape point. The installation height is calculated by taking into account both the line of sight from a vehicle and the clearance required for pedestrians and handling equipment. On a logistics site, a full-scale test with a moving trolley allows the angle to be validated before final fixing.
Depending on the configuration of the site, the mirror is fixed to a facade, to an existing lighting mast or to a dedicated surface-mounted structure. An adjustable arm facilitates subsequent adjustments if traffic changes, for example during a change in warehouse organization. On the axes exposed to shocks, a reinforced fixing limits the risk of accidental misalignment caused by a vehicle or handling equipment brushing against the structure.
A road mirror remains outdoors all year round and is exposed to UV, rain, spray or frost depending on the region. Regular cleaning of the reflective surface maintains a clear result, an essential condition for its safety function. In areas subject to frost and condensation, a heated version prevents the formation of fogging or frost which would make the mirror unusable at the most critical times, typically early in the morning in winter.
On certain sites, a road mirror benefits from being supplemented by ground markings or slowdown signs upstream of the point blind, to accustom drivers to anticipate the area before even seeing the reflection. This combined approach reduces the reaction time required, particularly in warehouses where multiple traffic flows intersect near a loading dock. However, it remains secondary: the mirror remains the main tool to cover a blind spot that no signage alone can make visible.
A poor choice of installation neutralizes the investment even with a quality mirror. The most common errors in the field:
For complex intersections or areas exposed to bad weather, the heated version polycarbonate unbreakable like the reflective polycarbonate traffic mirror resists impacts better than a glass mirror, while the heated safety mirror remains the most reliable solution as soon as frost sets in for a long time.
